Alexandra Moran
Alexandra’s first love of gardens came from spending most of her childhood in her grandfather’s greenhouses in La Jolla where he grew palm trees and a variety of plants for the cut green floral trade and seeds. At all the homes she grew up in, her mother, a rosarian, had beautiful gardens filled with palm trees, roses, fruit trees and more! Throughout her adulthood, she has had a small garden everywhere she lived and when COVID hit she took it as an opportunity to finally start transforming her newest garden into the cut flower garden of her dreams. Her husband Paul is an integral part of Allie Cat Flowers too. He is a wood worker and builds everything from the garden beds to our chicken coop. Her dream is to have a larger farm where she can grow a lot more but for now she is happily creating what she can at her home in Burbank.
Allie Cat Flowers
At our urban flower farm in Burbank we grow a mix of annuals, perennials, fruit trees and over 50 rose bushes, which consist of a collection of 19th century French roses. Our roses have been curated by Alexandra’s mother, Becky, who is a rosarian and specializes in saving rare roses! We specialize in unusual varieties that you can’t get from your typical florist. Keeping our practices 100% organic is a top priority which means we never use any chemicals (even on the bugs).
The farm is open by appointment to florists who are interested in hand selecting their blooms, we cut for them and they take it away. Pre-orders are also available for pick up or local delivery.
The farm is always changing and we are always experimenting with new things. There are not orderly rows and we don’t grow for a long term garden to look the same year round. It is a wild garden that’s primary purpose is to bring life back to a suburban lot that was originally all real and fake grass with zero life. We always have in mind the main reason we are doing this which is to create a magical garden for our family and to create a habitat for the butterflies, birds and insects that you can see gathering in the garden throughout all the seasons. In addition to the garden growing space, we have chickens, a worm farm, and 3 cats.
